Message from Pastor Phil
Welcome to Main Street.
Roots and wings, place and passion, belonging and believing: these are the marks of Main Street UMC. This congregation grew up with Greenwood and has shared her history since 1858. In an unstable world, we provide a community of Christian disciples who embrace a mission that is across the street and around the world. Our Thursday food bank and our twice-yearly mission trips to Honduras are prime examples of our vision to serve. As a church at the highpoint of the downtown are, we are “Following Christ from City Center” as our mission states. We are a church in the city and for the city.
When people visit us for the first time, I tell them, “We are one of a hundred good churches in Greenwood, and we’d love to have you hang out with us for a while, ask questions, and find out who we are.” Finding and joining a local church is a big decision and ought to be made prayerfully. We value the faith, traditions and disciplines of classic Christian faith and seek to live them out with love.
We think of ourselves as a great place to come home to. So whether you’re a long term believer looking for a place to serve or a seeker just exploring what following Jesus along with others might mean, give us a chance to become your spiritual family.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Phil Thrailkill
You can join us on the radio too.
We provide a radio ministry on Sunday mornings by broadcasting our 11:00 am service on a delayed basis. Many of our shut-ins, recuperating members and others in the community enjoy being able to have this weekly link to the church family. We are broadcast over WZLA 92.9 FM at 12:00 noon on Sunday.
