Music
Ministry at Main Street United Methodist Church
The purpose of the Music Ministry at Main Street United
Methodist Church is to serve God through musical presentations that are
accessible to the listener and of the highest possible musical integrity. All
ensembles are open without audition to both members and non-members.
Chancel
Choir
The Chancel Choir provides choral music for the weekly 11:00
AM traditional service and additional special services at various times during
the year. This 30 voice ensemble is open to anyone high school age or older.
The group rehearses each Wednesday evening at 7:15 except during the month of
July. Prior choral experience is a plus but not a requirement.

Bells
Main Street UMC is blessed to own a
5 octave set of Malmark handbells and a three octave set of Suziki hand chimes.
Chancel Bells meets each Thursday afternoon at 5:30 except during the summer.
The group provides worship music several times each year, especially around
church holidays. Anyone interested in joining Chancel Bells should contact any
current member or the Director of Music Ministries. Music reading ability is a
requirement but previous handbell experience is not required .
Belle Canto
Five of Main Street’s more experienced handbell ringers have
formed a quintet. This advanced group meets on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 and
rings periodically in services.
Angel Choir
The Angel Choir is for children in grades 1 – 5. It meets at
6:00 PM in conjunction with the Wednesday Night Gatherings. In Angel Choir the
students learn songs that they sing in periodic worship services but also study
the various seasons of the liturgical year and basic musical skills regarding
pitch and rhythm. The group also makes extensive use of handbells, handchimes,
and Orff instruments in rehearsal and performance.
Musik
Makers
The Musik Makers choir is led by Main Street’s church
organist, Joyce Nickles. Joyce also offers several sections of Kindermusik each
week and incorporates Kindermusik techniques in Musik Makers. This ensemble is
open to all pre-school age children. The choir meets each Wednesday evening at
6:00 PM in conjunction with the Wednesday Night Gatherings.
Outloud
Praise Band 
The Outloud Praise Band leads the Outloud contemporary
service each Sunday morning at 9:00 AM. This intergenerational group uses
guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocals in their musical offerings. The group
is lead by high school senior Ryan Moore and rehearses each Monday afternoon at
5:45.
Music 101 ![]()
Music 101 is a multi-week course that is an introduction to
music reading and basic music theory and recorder instruction. Currently
classes are each Tuesday at 1:30 PM and Thursday at 11:00 AM but additional
classes can be arranged.
