Sunday School
Sunday School classes are offered for children who are two years
old (before September 1st) through adults. Children’s classes and youth classes meet in
the Asbury Outreach Center at 10 am on Sunday mornings. Each class is separated by age group through
the 5th grade. The youth classes
consist of a middle school class and a high school class.
Adult classes meet in
the Cokesbury building (office) and the Cambridge building (sanctuary). More information on individual classes is
available in the Information Center and from the church office.
Wednesday Night Gatherings
Wednesday Night
Gatherings meet on Wednesdays and follow the public school calendar for the
most part. Fall 2009 offerings include The Common Thread (see
more information below), a study of Romans incorporating Bishop N. T. Wright’s
book on Justification and a discussion group on the book One Month to
Live. Interspersed are community
programs for all adults.
Youth also meets on
Wednesdays and children’s choirs for our 2-year-old class through 5th
graders.

The Common Thread
The Common Thread is Main Street’s prayer shawl
ministry. It is comprised of a group of
women who enjoy working with yarn and sharing their gifts with others. Prayer shawls can be knitted or crocheted and
are made to be shared with people who are hurting and find comfort being
wrapped in God’s love.
The group meets in the Library on
Wednesdays at 6pm and on Thursdays at 12 noon. Each session begins with prayer and then the
fellowship begins! Some members choose
to work at home which is certainly acceptable.
All are asked that if
possible, any pattern be worked in groupings of 3 because of the significance
of 3s in Christianity. The shawls may be
any color and any size. Every 6-8 weeks,
the finished shawls are blessed during the 11am service and then given to those
in need.
Any
and all are invited to come join this group – no experience necessary!
