Introducing James McCoy-Bruce

We are pleased to WELCOME and introduce you to our new Pastor, James McCoy-Bruce.  James was raised in Piedmont, SC and earned a degree in Business Administration from Furman University.  It was at Furman that James heard the call into ordained ministry and met his wife of 24 years, Ashley (who is also an ordained elder serving Cokesbury and Hodges United Methodist Churches).  During undergraduate school, James often spent his “free” time working one of his numerous part-time jobs from short order cook to security guard or consuming large amounts of IHOP coffee while studying into the night.

James has been both serving in United Methodist churches and married since 1993. He earned his Master of Divinity degree from Emory University while serving as a student local pastor in SC and as an evangelism intern at Roswell UMC (GA). Since that time, he has been an associate pastor and senior pastor, serving most of his time in the upstate of SC. June of 2017 found James joining the ministry team of Main Street UMC in Greenwood.

Passionate about preaching and teaching the Good News, James finds creative ways to share the Gospel using everything from magic to music to first-person monologues. When he is not helping Main Street reach out into the Greenwood community, you will likely find him at one of his children’s choral performances or band competitions with Greenwood High School or trekking through the woods on a walk with Ashley.
