NOTE: The slide shows below contain many digital pictures which must be downloaded to your machine in order to view. Even with a broadband connection to the internet, the downloading may take several seconds - up to one minute (or longer), depending on the number of pictures and the speed of your access. Please click on the button on the initial screens as they appear. Then wait until you see the four colored control buttons at the top right of your screen. The Green button is used to begin the slide show. The Red button (close symbol) is used to stop the slide show. If you receive a message at the top of your screen before the downloading phase, click that message and choose to "allow..." the downloading. This is just a precautionary warning - in case you do not know the source. Two other features are available to you in viewing the pictures - a "filmstrip" version and a "preview" version. These are neat for surveying what's there and jumping in where you want.

Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts -- Main Street UMC's mission project(s)
to the devastated Gulf Coast area - September, 2005

      Team consisted of Main Street UMC's Joe Chandler, Joe Goff, Ricky Holley, Eric Long, Adam Speakes, Dennis Weathers

  2) Team from Main Street UMC (September 25-30, 2005)  slide show

      Team consisted of Harris Baptist Church's Allan Terry and nine members from Main Street UMC: Jack Carmody, Karen Carr, Caroline Dennis, Cindy Dominick, Kathy Kelly, Richard Pinckney, Lee Robirds, Lorraine Stockman, and Glenn Williams. This slide show consists of 253 shots showing activities of the team going to Vancleave, working at the sites, relaxing in the dining hall at Vancleave UMC, many pictures of the devastation witnessed in Pascagoula, Gautier, and Ocean Springs waterfront towns, and several miscellaneous shots.

Greenwood Salkehatchie Summer Service Project -- June 25 - July 2, 2005 Slide Show

The first Greenwood Salkehatchie summer Service Project (camp) was held June 25 until July 2, 2005. The camp was developed by The Reverend Jim Dennis at Main Street UMC in Greenwood, SC. The camp was blessed with the help of many individuals -- at least six districts of the SC Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church were represented. Nine churches in those six districts had participants which together worked on four homes in the Greenwood area. The nucleus of the work group was formed by workers who "camped" at Main Street UMC for seven nights. These workers represented their churches well and accomplished many tasks:

stripping shingles from three roofs
repairing/replacing rafters and decking
repairing/replacing flooring and joists
applying paper and new shingles
scraping
painting
applying new plaster and drywall
and many other projects as the needs arose

Here is a brief listing of the churches and districts represented during the week at the work sites:

If you haven't seen the new stained glass windows outside the Fellowship Hall, it is worth a stop! Many thanks to the "angels" responsible for these beautiful new additions! Check out these pictures of the set of three windows.
